Accommodation Walk Through for First Light:

Starting forward one finds a comfortable, spacious and inviting forepeak cabin featuring a queen-sized berth with privacy doors to both the main salon and head and generous storage including hanging locker and under-berth storage.
Moving aft one finds the large, private head on the Port side with separate entrances from the forepeak cabin and salon.  The head features teak trim, stainless steel sink, large cabinet and generous vanity with linen cabinet, folding shower stall, shower enclosure, full length mirror, marine toilet, holding tank and pressurized hot & cold water.
The heart of the accommodations is the central salon which features a pull-out double settee berth to port, single settee berth to starboard surrounding a beautiful drop-leaf table.  The salon has well-designed, usable and spacious storage as would be expected for such a long-range capable cruiser.  Navigation station with table, chart stowage drawer beneath settee.
Spacious second cabin also has privacy doors behind which one finds a comfortable double bed with storage beneath, a pull-out vanity sink with hot/cold pressurized water, large hanging locker and bureau.
The galley is to starboard and aft of the companionway.  Countertop space abounds in this functional, efficient design which features a three burner propane stove/oven, double stainless steel sinks, large top accessible fridge with freezer, hot and cold pressurized water, microwave and retractable trash bin.  Storage abounds in drawers and lockers. Center of aft salon are companionway stairs leading to your large comfortable cockpit.
First Light is a partially cored FRP full foil keel hull of moderate draft. Made of one-piece construction for superior strength she features wide walkways, raised bulwarks forward, full length continuous stainless steel cabin top handrails, double lifelines with welded rails fore and aft, and diamond pattern, slip resistant surfaces, all designed to enhance safety and security.
She is a displacement, full keel, spade rudder, rounded bilges, moderately raked bow, reversed transom with step and straight shear of FRP, cruising vessel, in excellent condition.
Like a well-built house, a good cruising yacht must succeed on several levels. These include having the ability and stability to weather a big blow, being slippery enough to make headway in a fickle wind, and having the all-important home-away-from-home accommodation.
Along the way, things such as engineering, serviceability, and user-friendliness each play a role.
As for user-friendliness, two people can easily sail the Island Packet 380. All lines lead back along the cabin top through Lewmar clutches to the cockpit. There is an electric winch for the main halyard, and on both Primary winches.
She is absolutely a contender for a couple or family looking for a comfortable bluewater passagemaker.
